ORBC Christmas concert invitation

This Sunday is our annual Christmas concert at my church.  We are doing things a bit differently this year.  Instead of the usual choir cantata with narration or drama, we have put together a number of musicians in our church to perform a variety of Christmas favorites secular and sacred.  It is set to be a really fun night complete with prelude and postlude music provided by a dulcimer group.

Tomorrow morning is the dress rehearsal where we’ll make sure everyone is prepared for the performance as well as set lights, mics, and video.  The last month for me has been crazy.  And recently it has come to a head with late nights almost every night.  I’ve decided that I need to force myself to take it down a notch in leading up to Sunday night.  After all, if I’m not rested, I won’t perform very well no matter how hard I practice or tweak every little thing surrounding the performance.  Tonight will be an early bedtime after I practice “Sleigh Ride” with my wife a few times.  She’s providing some percussion alongside me and a trumpet player.  Tomorrow morning, I’ll do the dress rehearsal from 10 to noon.  Then I will probably not play any more on Saturday.  Sunday morning, I’ll practice some in the morning before church, play for the choir during the morning service, and spend the afternoon setting up.  I’ll warm up for a few minutes before the service.

I am very excited about Sunday night and hope that if you’re in the area, you’ll stop in.  If you can’t, I’ll make audio and video recordings available as soon as possible.  Merry Christmas!
